Grand Ball 2022 success with the highest amount raised on record!

What a night!

The evening began with a glamorous drinks reception as people entered the room. The room itself was decorated beautifully and we cannot thank the Village hotel enough for providing such a stunning venue. Brooke King was the driving force behind it all at the village hotel, so a special thank you goes to her and her team. The room looked very elegant with the warm glow of orange fairy lights hanging from the ceiling, candles on each table and touches of fine glamour all around.

As people sat down to enjoy a delicious 3-course meal the speeches began with a welcome from our chair of Trustees Steve Howell. CEO Daniel shared what Paul’s Place has achieved in the last year, as well as reiterated how important we are as a service to all those who come to us. He ended with a video showing all the ways in which we adapted our service in the last year. It has been our most challenging yet but as a service, we supported people throughout all the lockdowns.

Then it was time for a game of Heads and Tails which got the room up on its feet! Followed by more food and our guests putting their raffle entries in.

Lee Ridley, aka Lost Voice Guy performed his phenomenal comedy set, earning him a standing ovation from our guests! His comedy is highly intelligent and the whole room was roaring with laughter. Thank you Lee for joining us, as well as the signed copies of your books and DVDs you donated for our auction. We are so grateful for your support!

Then our charity patron and Great British Bake-Off Superstar Briony May Williams took to the front and delivered a heartfelt speech about our work as well as how the pandemic has affected disabled people. Sprinkled with humour (to not bring the room down too much!), we are grateful for her support on the night too. As well as coming to the event as a speaker, she donated fabulous auction prizes which helped us reach record numbers raised!

We ended the night dancing to the fantastic band Goodnight Louis, thoroughly merry and uplifted knowing the room has raised a phenomenal amount for Paul’s Place.

Thank you all and we hope to see you again next year!
