On my taster day, I arrived with my mentor and from the very first moment, I felt welcomed. I enjoyed every part of that first day. Paul’s Place is a lifeline for disabled people who need to come out of their properties for social stimulation and boost their mental wellbeing.

Who can access the service

  • Adults aged 18+ with a physical, cognitive, or sensory disability
  • Able to travel (or arrange transport) to and from the Hub

  • Motivated to build skills for greater independence

  • Interested in joining social and community activities

Paul says

After my stroke, I lost much of the strength in my leg and arm, and with it, a part of my independence. The charity gave me the chance to get that back, helping me use the gym, take Pilates classes, and swim. Pilates, especially, made me feel stronger and less awkward. Along the way, I met some wonderful friends, making my recovery fun and less isolating.

We offer

  • Meeting people: From lively nights out to relaxed board game sessions, we bring people together to build friendships and have a sense of community.
  • Building your skills: We will help you to learn and grow. We do this through hosting a wide range of groups, such as archery, Boccia, art, music and gardening. We also offer a programme, which can support creating a sense of purpose through volunteering.
  • Health and wellbeing for life: Our hub offers sensory and pamper rooms, a fully equipped gym and physiotherapy room as well as music therapy. Members can also join our allotment group, take part in cooking workshops, and enjoy accessible day trips and holidays—new experiences made possible.

Gareth says

I love archery, it’s such fun! I’m also very crafty, so I really enjoy doing the things I can’t do at home, like pottery. It’s even better when I’m chatting with friends and having a laugh with our support worker, Maria.
