We’re excited to announce our new Patron, Briony May!

Bristol home baker, a semi-finalist in 2018 of The Great British Bake Off and winner of the 2019 Christmas special decided to become our newest Patron as she visited Paul’s Place Daily at the beginning of March. Briony spent time with us whilst she organised and ran a ‘bake off’ themed activity. Rather less stressful than the Bake-Off tent, Briony worked with members of the charity in decorating some home-baked cupcakes.

Asked about her decision to join the charity, Briony said, ‘After speaking at the Paul’s Place Grand Ball last year I was so inspired by what the charity does, I wanted to be part of it.’

I was taken with how Paul’s Place look beyond a disability and sees the person.

‘I also love how Paul’s Place supports people in achieving things that they have always wanted to’.

Reflecting on how coronavirus has affected us at Paul’s Place Briony said, ‘It is now more important than ever that people stay connected and I am so humbled to see how Paul’s Place continues to support and stay in touch with our Members at this difficult time.”

The announcement comes at a challenging time for Paul’s Place as we have recently had to adapt our services in response to the coronavirus. CEO, Daniel Cheesman said ‘We are thrilled to be working with Briony and are looking forward to having her as our Patron.  She joins us at a time that we hadn’t quite planned for as we have been busy supporting our Members in new and creative ways, due to the current situation that we are in.’ Daniel went onto say, ‘As a charity Paul’s Place has always been positive and fun-filled place and we are still trying to operate with this ethos. Briony brings these elements with her in abundance, so it feels like a very natural fit.’

We are thrilled to be working with her and we know she will do great things with us here at Paul’s Place.

Briony will be working with Paul’s Place throughout the year with lots of celebrations and fundraising events for our 25th anniversary. Click here for more information on how you can support us!
